Blå koral (Blue Coral) - finally back on vinyl! 

At long last the legendary Blå Koral album has been remastered and is available on vinyl again. In 1991 the Knut Reiersrud and Iver Kleive super duo gave us their unbiased interpretations of hymns and religious folk songs. Acclaimed across the board, it also won the Norwegian Grammy (Spellemann Music Award).

Blå Koral was the start of a musical collaboration that so far has given us six albums, all bearing the duo’s extraordinary musical signature.

“All music surrounding us every day stems from the need to communicate about what has given all of us our thoughts and life,” the musicians claim.  

Their inspiration includes European organ music, old Norwegian religious folk songs and traditional choir music from the Black Baptist churches in the USA’s southern states.  

“All of that constitutes a fantastic source from which to make wonderful music,” add Kleive and Reiersrud.  

The album was recorded in St. Knud’s church (Odense Cathedral) in Denmark over two nights in April 1991.  

“It is quite a miracle that the record turned out so well in only two nights,” remarks Erik Hillestad, the producer. Knut and Iver had never played together before meeting in the church.
