Wunderlich Engine Protection Bar Guard for BMW R12 / R12 nineT / R12 G/S / R12 S (2025)

During the development of the Wunderlich GUARD engine protection bars, the focus was on achieving the perfect balance between maximum protection and minimal weight.

Its compact geometry provides reliable protection for the cylinders, cylinder heads, and valve covers without compromising ground clearance or lean angles. The two-piece engine protection bar hugs the contours of the engine closely and gains additional stability and rigidity through its specific structure – all while keeping weight optimised. The bars on the right and left sides are securely bolted to three pre-existing mounting points on each side. In the event of a fall or crash, the forces are optimally distributed across the protection bar structure and onto the robust mounting points, minimising peak loads and reducing material stress. This proven all-around protection concept increases passive safety and enhances riding confidence.

The engine protection bar structure is made from 25-millimetre precision steel tubing – with the stainless steel variant crafted from high-grade stainless steel. The tubing segments are shaped on CNC pipe bending machines and then cleanly welded.

Visually, the protection bar integrates seamlessly into the motorcycle’s design, complementing its distinctive look. The red powder-coated finish, matching the red frame, enhances the striking appearance of the R 12 models.

Note and recommendation
Our expansion kit for the engine protection bars (#31475-002) allows the combined installation of the Wunderlich GUARD engine protection bars with:

• Wunderlich valve cover & cylinder protectors (#36611-002) or
• Option 719 cylinder head covers

This shifts both halves of the engine protection bars outward, creating the necessary space for the protectors.
